When I first heard about the Alternative Break trips with the college of engineering, I knew immediately that it was right up my alley. I love adventures, and this trip was definitely a wonderful adventure I will remember for the rest of my life.

All in all, my experience in Ecuador was unique. Going to a country I knew very little about and coming back with a broadened perspective of it and the world will only improve me as a person.

This trip was an amazing experience I will never forget. Being able to see the culture and taste so many new foods were probably my two favorite parts of the trip. Also, being able to help the community of San Clemente was such a fun and humbling experience.
Josh Presnell: Student Report from 2019 Alternative Spring Break to Ecuador
The charming, rustic family house of San Clemente was our place of stay. The family that lived in the house and the surrounding community were all extremely nice to us and made sure we felt welcomed, even with the language barrier between us.

After what felt like 100 stories’ worth of steps, we reached the top of the Pyramid of the Sun, which offered a beautiful view of the rest of the archeological site and in the distance, the mountains of Mexico. I have never been anywhere quite like Teotihuacan, and it amazed me to think of how long ago these pyramids were built, without the tools and equipment we take for granted today.

My favorite place we visited during the week was Puebla. Downtown Puebla was an extremely lively and fun place to be. There were a bunch of different markets downtown with lots of handmade crafts.
