Trip Report: Alternative Spring Break in Ecuador
The walking tour of Old Town Quito began at the magnificent Basílica del Voto Nacional, known locally as the Cathedral. Of the Gothic style, and whose façade is adorned with gargoyles representing animals of mainland Ecuador and the Galapagos, including turtles, frigate birds, iguanas, and caiman, which are cousins of the crocodile, it is the oldest neo-Gothic Basilica in the Americas.

When I first heard about the Alternative Break trips with the college of engineering, I knew immediately that it was right up my alley. I love adventures, and this trip was definitely a wonderful adventure I will remember for the rest of my life.
Phillip Chu: Student Report from 2019 Alternative Spring Break to Ecuador

This trip was an amazing experience I will never forget. Being able to see the culture and taste so many new foods were probably my two favorite parts of the trip. Also, being able to help the community of San Clemente was such a fun and humbling experience.
Josh Presnell: Student Report from 2019 Alternative Spring Break to Ecuador

“But what about all the bugs?!” This was usually the first response I got when I told my friends and family I would be volunteering on the edge of the Amazon Rainforest.
Alex Weber: Student Report from 2017 Alternative Summer Break in Ecuador
There were many fun experiences throughout the trip. I won’t bore you with the details of the entire trip, but rather fill you with the wonder that made up my most memorable experiences.
