In the News: Engineering Students Examine Natchez Trace Bridge, Seeking Solutions to Suicide Crisis2
Thirty-two people have committed suicide at the Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge in northern Williamson County, Tennessee. As part of their capstone project, a group of UT engineering students are designing a barrier that could be installed as a safety measure on the bridge.
Nancy Abdo, Joey Allston, Connor Campbell, Meet Patel, Payne Susong, and Jay Thota are working with the National Park Service to come up with a real-world feasible solution. Jenny Retherford, senior lecturer in civil and environmental engineering, is working with the group as their faculty advisor.
