Scheduling an Appointment

The Engineering Advising Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Your advisor is available to support you and address your questions and concerns. Advising appointments for the duration of the Spring 2021 semester will be held virtually via Zoom. Please see instructions below for scheduling an appointment and reach out via phone or e-mail any time with questions.

Current UTK Engineering Students

If you have required advising this semester, you will receive an e-mail invitation from your advisor when it is time to schedule an appointment. Please use the scheduling link that you receive in your UTK e-mail to make an appointment through Vol Academic Connect (accessible through MyUTK). Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive an e-mail containing the Zoom link to use for your appointment. Please contact your advisor directly with any questions or concerns.

Current UTK Students, Non-Engineering Majors

If you are not an engineering major but would like to be, please check Vol Academic Connect (accessible through MyUTK) starting in early April for “To Engineering” appointment times. Simply select the appointment time that works best for you and await an e-mail to your UTK e-mail address containing your appointment Zoom link. Please call (865) 974-4008 with any questions.

Prospective Students

Advisors are available for discussions with prospective transfer and freshman students. If you have questions about becoming a student in the Tickle College of Engineering, please call (865) 974-4008 for assistance with scheduling a phone or Zoom appointment with an advisor.

If you are a current UT student still taking EF 151/157-152/158 or Physics 135/137-136/138 and Math 141/147 -142/148 in the Tickle College of Engineering, you will receive a Vol Academic Connect (Navigate) email inviting you to schedule your advising appointment. The Engineering Advising Office meets with Engineering students in the following way during fall and spring semesters:

  • All Honors program students, EF 157-158 or Physics 137-138, Athletes, Veterans
  • Students enrolled in EF 151-152 or Physics 135-136 or Math 130
  • Inquiry students, not currently in Engineering but seeking to move in (Fall semester inquiry students are advised in November and Spring semester inquiry students are advised in April.)

Inquiry students, visiting high school students, and visiting transfer students please call our office at 865-974-4008 to schedule an appointment.

Current Engineering students will receive a Vol Academic Connect (Navigate) email inviting you to schedule an individual advising appointment. View instructions about scheduling your advising appointment from this email.

The Office of the University Registrar assigns registration dates and times to each student. It is our goal to make sure you are advised prior to your assigned registration date/time. Students with questions about their registration date/time should visit the One Stop Student Services.

If you are a transfer student who has been admitted into an engineering major or are a sophomore or above, then you are advised in your engineering major department. Contact the appropriate department for your major to schedule an advising session. Students seeking a second bachelor’s degree need to talk with the associate department head in the major department for details about a second degree.

If you have decided to change your major to another college/major at the University of Tennessee, please contact that college’s advising center to schedule an appointment to discuss changing your major. View a list of other college advising centers.
