Study Abroad Student Report: Madilyn Morelock

The mini-summer term of 2023 was an incredible opportunity I will never forget. I participated in a study abroad program located in Florence, Italy. The course was 3 credit hours and is titled Applied Human Factors and Art in Italy. Our scheduled days included tours of museums, city walks, and business visits. It was amazing to have guides from Italy show us the architecture, sculptures, and paintings and to give us the background history. It was also refreshing to not be in a classroom setting all the time; we got to go out and explore the city. It kept us engaged and eager to learn. Our coursework consisted of reflections and research on the artwork, artists, and human factors that shaped the world. Looking back, these blog posts keep the memory of the trip alive and allow me to relive my experiences.

Outside of our coursework, we would all travel to different parts of Italy. I was able to visit Pisa, Luca, Rome, Cinque Terre, and Venice. We learned how to plan trips and travel on trains and planes on our own. The group was also able to bond on these trips and create a close knit bond. These experiences were worthwhile and allowed us to fall in love with new places. I strongly recommend this trip to anyone who is interested and able. You will fall in love with the course and culture.
