Dongarra Chosen IEEE Computer Society’s Computer Pioneer for 2020
UT Distinguished Professor Jack Dongarra has been selected by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society as its 2020 Computer Pioneer Award winner.
The award is given to researchers for “significant contributions to early concepts and developments in the electronic computer field, which have clearly advanced the state-of-the-art in computing.” Specifically, the society singled out Dongarra’s work in high-performance computing software.
Dongarra holds a joint appointment with Oak Ridge National Laboratory as well as an appointment with the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
