I am honored and humbled to be joining the University of Tennessee to lead the Tickle College of Engineering. The college has been on a wonderful trajectory of growth over the last decade, and I am eager to contribute to that momentum.
I believe the biggest impact we can achieve as a college will come from creating an inspired and passionate culture that is driven by a common mission to continuously learn, to innovate, and to contribute—for the good of one another, our communities, indeed, for the world.
As Tennessee’s public land grant institution, and as the Volunteers, our mission of serving others can be seen through our curricula, the outreach conducted by faculty and students, and critical educational milestones like senior design projects that partner with local and regional organizations to enhance the communities we serve.
Similarly, our faculty excels both in educating the country’s future engineers and in conducting pioneering research that improves the quality of life for all of our citizens. Our research portfolio spans many critical fields, including additive and advanced manufacturing, high-performance computing, energy, security, infrastructure, transportation, biomedicine, and more.
It is of great benefit to be so closely connected to our industry and community partners as well as nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory, with whom we actively collaborate.
We are always interested in connecting with organizations to partner with our students and faculty to create innovative solutions through experiential learning opportunities and meaningful research. If you have ideas or are curious about how we can help, get in touch—we’d love to hear from you!
In short, it is a great time to be an Engineering Vol, and I am thrilled to be a part of this college. Enjoy your visit to our site and please visit us on campus—we look forward to working with you!
