About Our Program

The Jessica M. Morris Women in Engineering (WiE) Program strives to create a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment for undergraduate and graduate engineering students.

Program Mission

Strives to redefine engineering as a community engaged in meaningful work focused on solving problems that face our society and the world.

Program Vision

Our goal is to ensure all students have access to explore the possibilities that await them through our outreach, recruitment, and retention initiatives.

Program Goals

  • Outreach & Recruitment: Develop targeted recruitment strategies to attract K-12 students to engineering roles by finding the gap areas.
  • Community & Engagement: Create and sustain a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive campus climate for engineering students by continuing to build pathways through mentorship, professional development opportunities, and support programs.
  • Leadership & Development: Provide service, leadership, and other practical learning activities focused on exploring major and career options.
  • Professional Development: Prepare students for careers in the private sector or academia.

LEAD Values

  • Leadership: Understand the walkaway points from being involved and advancing professionally.
  • Engagement: Be reasonable in coaching and allow students to be responsible.
  • Academics: Be academically responsible (starting with a foundation of expectation and confirmation of understanding the process) and be post-graduate ready.
