“Eastman’s support of our college is certainly important to our growth and success,” said Wayne Davis, dean of the college. “The opening of this lab is a key moment for us, one that would not have been possible without this partnership.”
Cox will take over from interim department head Greg Reed on May 1, assuming leadership of a department whose history predates the college itself.
Dr. Cox joined the faculty of the CEE department in 1991 as an instructor. He was promoted to assistant professor in 1992, to associate professor in 1997, and to full professor in 2007. He was named as the CEE associate department head in 2008.
Awards consisted of a certificate and $100 gift card for their presentations made during the conference, which attracted more than 5,000 attendees and 100 company exhibitors.
Doctoral candidate Louis Santodonato, along with his advisor, Professor Peter Liaw, both in materials science, did an extensive study into this class of materials, which are considerably lighter and less prone to fracture, corrosion, and oxidation than conventional alloys.
Most recently, she was named a 2014 Goldwater Scholar and received the Dow Outstanding Junior award from the CBE department. Along with her own enthusiasm, Hollmann credits the sense of community in the Tickle College of Engineering (TCE) as a foundation for success.
The trip also contained elements of adventure, relaxation, scenic beauty, and cultural learning, in addition to the service work.
