UT Students Honored at TMS Annual Meeting

Two undergraduates from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) were honored for excellence in the TMS Technical Division Student Poster Contest at the 2017 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, held February 26-March 2 in San Diego, California.

The Functional Materials Division recognized MSE graduating senior Jesse Johnson for his poster “Discovery of New Ternary Compounds and Scintillators of the A4BX6 Family.”

The Structural Materials Division recognized Christina Cox, a junior in MSE, for her poster “Lifetime Prediction of FeCrAl Alloys through Statistical Modeling and High-Temperature Cycling Testing.”

Both these efforts highlight collaborations between the MSE Department and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Cox and Johnson were also part of the team, along with MSE Undergraduate Nick Combs and Quentin Eustace, that competed on Sunday, February 26 in the Materials Bowl.
