We worked at Escuela Oficial Rural Mixta Pacajá, which is a school for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. There were two main projects while we were there, but the main one I worked on was the construction of a dividing wall between a classroom and a storage closet.

The next stop was the archaeological ruins of Iximche, a Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican archaeological site. Iximche was the capital of the Late Postclassic Kaqchikel Maya kingdom from 1470 until its abandonment in 1524.

2017 Summer Study Abroad Student Fellowships
Many of this year’s students will participate in Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs which include: Engineering in London; UTK Smart Infrastructure and Sustainability Engineering in China; Nuclear Engineering in Prague, Czech Republic; Materials Engineering in Milan, Italy; and Supply Chain Engineering in China.
