JeNai Davis joined the college as an academic advisor for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) in early 2021. She helps CEE students with course planning and helps address their concerns about academic support and scheduling.
“Believe it or not, there are a lot of similarities between working with preschoolers and elementary age students and working with college students,” she said.
“I want to help them explore their strengths, interests, and values so they can effectively identify curricular and co-curricular opportunities that are relevant to their immediate and long-term professional goals,” he said.
“I am also a 2017 UT graduate myself, so I know my way around campus pretty well and am familiar with a lot of various aspects of UT from both a student and staff member’s perspective,” she said. “Oh, and I am proficient in Spanish and love every opportunity to practice my translating skills.”
Lisa Byrd is the assistant director for Engineering Advising. As an active academic advisor, she meets with students to help them plan their academic careers in the college.
She serves as the liaison to the Center for Career Development, the Office of Professional Practice, the Office of Undergraduate Research, and other on-campus departments to best meet the interests of the students.
