Materials Camp

Overview

Materials Camp is a week-long opportunity for high school students to learn about materials science and engineering (MSE).

Students engage in hands-on experiments paired with short lectures and interactive laboratory demonstrations. Industry site visits to local research facilities, such as Institute for Advanced Materials & Manufacturing (IAMM), are also planned.

Overall, students will explore materials science and engineering principles in this unique experience.

Why Attend?

Materials Camp is the perfect summer activity for students curious about how and why things work at an atomic level based on what they are made of.

Materials are the building blocks of civilizations, everything from the phones used every day to the steel beams in a house to the ceramic pins used to help aid in bones healing. The study of materials provides opportunities for students to learn science and math in the context of real-world applications.

This camp offers an interesting, fun, and educational opportunity for students to learn more about the vast world of MSE.
