2018 Theme: WhoDunIt?
Sabotage in space! An unknown enemy has damaged an object critical to maintaining the safety of the galaxy. Who could have committed the interstellar crime?
Get hands-on experience as you investigate this galatic villainy using high-tech skills like mechanical testing, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction, computer-aided design, 3D printing, photovoltaics and other material science techniques.
Who are we looking for?
Any high school student with strong abilities in math and science!
What is the camp?
A week-long opportunity to learn about materials science, failure analysis and materials characterization through hands-on study.
Where is the camp?
Pellissippi State Community College, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the Y-12 National Security Complex.
When do we start?
June 18–22, 2018. Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Friday 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
How much?
FREE (limited availability). The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Pellissippi State Community College and the Y-12 National Security Complex are co-sponsoring this camp.
