Jeremy Kirk
Assistant Dean for Access and Engagement
Biography
Jeremy Kirk comes to UT from Lone Star College–Tomball in Texas, where he has been the director of diversity and inclusion since 2020. Kirk earlier served at Auburn University as a program manager in the diversity education unit of the Office of Inclusion and Diversity, where he developed diversity modules for the facilities management team—the largest and most diverse department at the university—and in other roles, including research assistant.
Kirk is a graduate of Valdosta State University, with a bachelors in Middle Grades Education. He is a former 7th grade social studies and language arts teacher, who served in rural counties. He is also a two-time degree holder from Auburn University, a Masters in Higher Education Administration, and a Doctorate of Higher Education Administration. Kirk currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Access and Engagement in the Tickle College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee.
Kirk oversees the Dwight Hutchins Office of Engineering Diversity Programs, the Jessica M. Morris Women in Engineering Program, and membership in both the Tennessee Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) and the National Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science Consortium (GEM). Active student groups include chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers as well as discipline-specific groups.
