research opportunities
Undergrad Research
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering has many opportunities for undergraduates to participate in laboratory research by participating in research projects led by department faculty. Participating in an undergraduate research opportunity is an excellent way for students with aspirations to attend graduate school to gain experience working on cutting-edge research. Opportunities for undergraduate work are developed directly between the student and the faculty and can be in two general formats:
- As an independent study course, in which you receive credit hours toward your degree, or
- As a paid assistant working for hourly wages
Normally, undergraduate students work ten hours or less per week during the regular semesters. Periodically, opportunities to work will be posted on the department’s LinkedIn group site, and at the Undergraduate Advising Center in Room 316A Dougherty. Please contact faculty members directly to discuss additional opportunities that may be available.
