Biography

Joe Boudreaux is a Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He brings more than 38 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance, operations, and project management across highly regulated environments, including facilities governed by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Boudreaux recently served as Senior Director of Reliability Engineering at CNS in Oak Ridge, where he led the Enterprise Reliability Engineering organization. In this role, he develops and executes strategic and tactical plans that enhance equipment reliability and improve the performance of plant assets. He oversees engineering teams responsible for transforming maintenance, operating, and failure data into proactive reliability strategies.

His career includes leadership in major decontamination and dismantlement (D&D) projects, nuclear facility deactivation, long-range site planning, and environmental remediation. He has managed multi-million-dollar environmental disposition efforts, coordinated long-range strategic site plans, and supervised engineering teams responsible for infrastructure reduction and transformation activities across DOE sites.

Boudreaux has also contributed extensively to engineering education and workforce development. He has provided coaching and classroom instruction in continuous improvement, leadership, maintenance fundamentals, reliability concepts, and project/program development. His teaching approach integrates practical engineering and project management insights with the industrial engineering curriculum, preparing students for leadership and innovation in industry.
