Terry Hazen Makes a Career of Researching Benefits of Microorganisms

Terry Hazen

Terry Hazen, UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair for Environmental Biotechnology, was recently profiled on the Oak Ridge National Laboratory website. The profile examines his career and research, which began as a doctoral candidate studying diseases found in an alligator population at the Savannah River nuclear reservation.

Hazen has spent his life studying ecosystems affected by industrial processes and currently has a heavy focus in how microorganisms can play a role in the remediation of industrial waste in bodies of water. He joined UT and ORNL in 2011 when he accepted the UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair position.
