TCE Staff Spotlight: Alex Brown

Alex Brown

Alexandria “Alex” Brown joined the college this summer as the administrative specialist for Paul Frymier, Interim Associate Dean for Faculty and Engagement. She previously worked in advising services for the College of Arts and Sciences after moving to Knoxville in 2010.

Her primary duties within the college involve scheduling meetings for Frymier with faculty, department heads, and other upper level administrators throughout the university.

“Additionally, I assist with the promotion and tenure process, faculty development, and faculty awards in the college,” said Brown.

Born in Spokane, Washington, her father’s Air Force assignments found her spending many of her developmental years in Okinawa, Japan, and Fayetteville, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, with a BA in history and a social studies licensure.

Brown and her husband have a two-and-a-half year-old son. She maintains an active lifestyle expressing her creative side.

“I am a professional dancer and spend a lot of my time in rehearsal getting ready for shows in Knoxville and surrounding areas,” said Brown. “I love to cook, eat, read, and crochet—and watch bad reality TV to annoy my husband.”

In addition to info on faculty topics, Brown keeps a running list of area restaurants and breweries that she enjoys.

“Please feel free to come see me if you are new to Knoxville and you need recommendations for places to eat or drink,” she said.
