Staff Spotlight: Ryan Blanchette

Ryan Blanchette is the college’s new data analyst, tasked primarily with gathering, cleaning, and summarizing data for the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and US News College Rankings surveys. He also builds dashboards and reports, explores new ways to save and access the data that the college uses, and completes ad hoc statistical analyses as needed.

“My background is using data to solve business problems in areas like marketing,” he said. He feels his experience translates well into the academic environment.

Blanchette is a Knoxville native and UT grad with a BS in in statistics and an MS in business analytics. His previous roles included working as a healthcare analyst with the UnitedHealth Group in Fraud, Waste, and Abuse. He comes to the college from a position as data analyst with Jewelry Television, concentrating on marketing, customers, and big data technology.

When he isn’t crunching numbers, Blanchette enjoys playing the bass guitar, watching baseball, Marvel and Star Wars movies, following some TV shows, and sampling locally brewed beer. He and wife Madeline have an 18-month old son named Elliott and a three-year-old dachshund named Nathan.
