TCE Remains Best in State Among Public Universities in U.S. News Rankings

Tickle College of Engineering Ranked 37th Among Public University for Undergraduate Engineering Programs

The Tickle College of Engineering remains the highest-ranked public engineering destination in Tennessee and ranks 37th among public universities nationally, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings released on September 22.

Reinforcing the University of Tennessee’s strength in high-demand fields, TCE remains a premier choice for undergraduate students seeking an educational experience that will prepare them for the modern workforce and have them ready to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

TCE ranked No. 37 among public universities for the second straight year. TCE’s computer science program held the No. 1 spot among public universities in Tennessee and placed 40th among public institutions nationwide for the fifth consecutive year.

“The Tickle College of Engineering provides a world-class engineering education for our undergraduates,” said Matthew Mench, dean and Wayne T. Davis Dean’s Chair. “We are committed to a continually evolving modern engineering education that equips our graduates to succeed anywhere in the world. In fact, The Tickle College of Engineering is a place where not even the sky is the limit, considering our great track record in producing astronauts.”

Overall, UT jumped 10 spots to 13th among public universities on the “Best Value” list and climbed 13 spots to 76th nationally in rankings. The best value ranking considers academic quality and cost after factoring in total expenses and financial aid.

Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report named UT to its list of Best Online Education Programs, and multiple UT programs earned recognition on the publication’s list of Best Graduate Schools.
