{"id":1910,"date":"2026-02-03T06:35:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T11:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mse\/?p=1910"},"modified":"2026-02-18T14:13:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T19:13:15","slug":"page-safin-honored-at-mrs-fall-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mse\/page-safin-honored-at-mrs-fall-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Page, Safin Honored at MRS Fall Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Materials Science Professor Katharine Page and doctoral student Joshua Safin were individually recognized at the 2025 Materials Research Society (MRS) Fall Meeting &amp; Exhibit, which took place November 30-December 5, 2025, in Boston.<\/p>\n<p>One of the world\u2019s premier scientific gatherings for materials research, the Fall Meeting served as a key forum for presenting cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration across disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>Page was recognized as one of two Early Career Distinguished Presenters worldwide for her presentation during the Symposium SF03-High-Entropy Materials. The title recognizes important individual contributions to the field and amplifies exciting new directions for the materials research community.<\/p>\n<p>Safin, a fourth-year doctoral student, received the Best Oral Presentation Award at the meeting for his presentation during the Symposium SF03-High-Entropy Materials. Safin\u2019s presentation, titled \u201cDeveloping Ultra Hard, Low Thermal Conductivity Rare Earth Transition Metal Pyrochlores by Broadening Elemental Compatibility Through Compositional Complexity,\u201d reflects his work in Page\u2019s National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER project.<\/p>\n<p>Page\u2019s appearance was one of many she will be making at major conferences worldwide this year, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At the 34th Meeting of the German Crystallographic Society (DGK) in Lubeck, Germany (February 25-28), where Page will give the plenary talk, \u201cCompositionally Complex Oxides: A Modern Frontier.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>At the ACerS Spring Meeting 2026 in Bellevue, Washington (April 12-17), where Page will give a keynote lecture, \u201cSeeing hydrogen in ceramics: neutrons, symmetry, and structure-property relationship,\u201d during the SYMPOSIUM 11-BSD|ED: Characterization of Structure-Property Relationships in Functional Ceramics: Advances in connecting local and global structure to properties.<\/li>\n<li>At the 2026 Triennial Congress and General Assembly of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (August 11-18), where Page has been selected to give the keynote lecture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"h4 orange-mark\">Contact<\/h2>\n<p>Rhiannon Potkey (<a href=\"mailto:rpotkey@utk.edu\">rpotkey@utk.edu<\/a>)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Materials Science Professor Katharine Page and doctoral student Joshua Safin were individually recognized at the 2025 Materials Research Society (MRS) [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":28,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[10,3,14],"tags":[381],"class_list":["post-1910","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-accolades","category-faculty","category-news","tag-katherine-page"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
