{"id":893,"date":"2023-11-13T20:06:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T20:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tickle1stg.wpenginepowered.com\/mse\/?page_id=893"},"modified":"2026-03-16T15:52:37","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T19:52:37","slug":"scholarships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mse\/future-students\/scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our department has one of the largest undergraduate scholarship programs at UT with more than half of our students receiving scholarship support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">High school seniors with grade-point-averages of 3.0 or better are automatically considered for a first-year departmental scholarship, which can range from $1,000 &#8211; $5,000 per year. Department scholarships are renewable for subsequent years based on merit, department involvement, and continued pursuit of a degree in MSE. These MSE-specific scholarships are independent of other sources of financial aid from UT.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eligible first-year students will be contacted by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering\u2019s Scholarship Committee in the spring of their senior year of high school to register for department scholarships.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information on financial aid opportunities for undergraduate students from the college and university, visit the Tickle College of Engineering\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/admissions-aid\/financial-aid\/\">Financial Aid and Scholarships page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Financial support for graduate students is available through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.utk.edu\/content.php?catoid=55&amp;navoid=11819\">graduate assistantships<\/a> and through several multi-year or single-year <a href=\"https:\/\/gradschool.utk.edu\/costs-and-funding\/graduate-fellowships\/\">fellowships<\/a>\u00a0filled on a competitive basis.
