{"id":885,"date":"2025-04-28T12:35:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-28T16:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mae\/?p=885"},"modified":"2025-07-23T12:40:48","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T16:40:48","slug":"singh-receives-young-investigator-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mae\/news\/singh-receives-young-investigator-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Singh Receives Young Investigator Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Prashant Singh, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2025 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Bergles-Rohsenow Young Investigator Award in Heat Transfer.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mae\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/Prashant_Singh_cropped-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Prashant Singh\" class=\"wp-image-886\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mae\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/Prashant_Singh_cropped-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mae\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/Prashant_Singh_cropped.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The award, which was established in 2003, recognizes a young engineer under 36 years old who is committed to pursuing research in heat transfer and demonstrates the potential to make significant contributions to the field. Singh is the first faculty member from the University of Tennessee to ever receive the award in the 22-year history.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am honored and humbled to receive the prestigious ASME Bergles-Rohsenow Young Investigator Award in Heat Transfer. I thank my nominator, support letter writers, and other mentors, for inspiring me in this journey,\u201d Singh said. \u201cMany thanks to the ASME K-3 Honors and Awards Committee for this outstanding recognition. It is an amazing feeling to be placed in such a distinguished company of leaders in heat transfer research.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/tickle.utk.edu\/mae\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/07\/Bergles-Rohsenow-award_Prashant-Singh-214x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"Bergles and Rohsenow giving an award to Prashant Singh\" class=\"wp-image-887\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Singh was recognized for \u201coutstanding contributions to the fundamental understanding of thermal transport in architecture materials for high temperature heat exchanger applications, and for advancements in experimental techniques for non-intrusive thermal diagnostics.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singh will be presented with the award, along with $1,000, a bronze medal, and a certificate, during the 2025 Summer Heat Transfers Conference July 8-10 in Westminster, Colorado.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis award provides great encouragement to me to continue pursuing challenging areas in thermal sciences and advance the wonderful world of thermal
