Meg Buckner receiving award

Alumna Buckner Honored with Future Technology Leader Award

Meg Buckner (BS/MAE ’24) received the Future Technology Leader Award from the Engineers’ Council during National Engineers Week in Sherman Oaks, California in late February. Buckner was recognized for outstanding technical leadership contributions as an early career engineer in support of requirements definition for multiple critical missile defense programs.

“This recognition has been a meaningful milestone for me. I see it as encouragement to continue growing as an engineer while striving to contribute meaningfully within the industry,” said Buckner, a systems engineer at Aerojet Rocketdyne (now L3Harris Technologies). “In my current role, I’ve found that my undergraduate studies in aerospace engineering at UT provided a strong foundation for the interdisciplinary nature of my work, both technically and collaboratively.”

As a student at UT, Buckner served as a research assistant for Damiano Baccarella in the Hypersonics and Propulsion Laboratory and as a summer research assistant at the University of Tennessee Space Institute.
