Knoxville News Sentinel: UT students gave advice to Clayton Homes to improve productivity, and it’s working
In a collaboration between Clayton Homes and the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, students have set up a living lab in Clayton Homes’ Rutledge facility to improve their workflow. The team looked at the way employees worked, the robotics used in construction, and the ultimate cost to manufacture the homes, ultimately improving both productivity and retention at the facility.
Part of the goal was for the team to look at workplace production of their employees as well as how to relieve stress.
“We believe that a company can be productive, but at the same time when you are becoming productive, enhance the quality of life of people,” said Rupy Sawhney, Heath Fellow in Business and Engineering.
