Tickle Professor Mingzhou Jin has been selected as the next editor-in-chief of The Engineering Economist.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/journals\/utee20\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Engineering Economist<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is a quarterly refereed journal published jointly by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iise.org\/Home\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE)<\/span><\/a> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">and the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). The journal publishes articles, case studies, surveys, and book and software reviews that represent original research, current practice, and teaching involving problems of capital investment, life-cycle cost assessment, techno-economic analysis, and other economic analysis of engineering projects and systems.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jin, an IISE Fellow and head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at UT, will assume his new role in January 2025. Jin has served as an editorial board member for the journal since 2014 and has filled similar editorial posts with several other publications.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIt is an honor to be selected as editor-in-chief of a prestigious IISE journal with a rich history,\u201d said Jin, who is also the director of UT\u2019s Institute for a Secure and Sustainable Environment (ISSE). \u201cI plan to broaden the journal\u2019s scope and enhance its impacts by fostering the development and adoption of innovative engineering technologies and systems that promote sustainable development of our societies. These technologies\u2014spanning cleaner energy, green building, low-carbon manufacturing, future mobility, and sustainable environmental systems\u2014often involve significant capital investment. Ensuring their economic feasibility is essential for achieving market acceptance and long-term growth.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Engineering Economist, which was founded in 1955 and is one of two major IISE journals, is indexed by the Sciences Citation Index (SCI) and Social SCI.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">IISE is the world&#8217;s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial and systems engineering profession.
