He plans to apply the fellowship to his work here at UT with Associate Professor Jim Ostrowski in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Investigations with Ostrowski provided a springboard toward the proposed research for the award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe developed a deep neural network architecture called a \u2018group-equivariant autoencoder\u2019 that could successfully identify spontaneous symmetry breaking in certain toy models of physical systems,\u201d said Agrawal.
