The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) has awarded scholarships to two ISE undergraduates, rising seniors Lillian McCloud and Julie Davenport.<\/p>\n

IISE is the world\u2019s largest professional society for engineers in the industrial and systems engineering sector. The organization\u2019s Scholarships and Fellowships Program honors student members of the IISE who have demonstrated leadership on their college campuses and achieved academic excellence, earning a GPA of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.<\/p>\n

McCloud was awarded the $1,000 Marvin Mundel Scholarship, which is specific to students engaged in work measurement and methods engineering.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always enjoyed improving processes and I find satisfaction in seeing complex problems be solved,\u201d McCloud said. \u201cWhen I took a class in work measurement and methods, my eyes were opened to the impact an industrial engineer can have; it confirmed to me that I am meant to become an industrial and systems engineer. I am very honored to receive this scholarship and hope to continue to represent the ISE department well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davenport received the $1,000 Harold & Inge Marcus Scholarship, which is awarded to students who contribute to the development of the ISE profession.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I was growing up, my mom told me all about how industrial engineering improves any kind of process, from manufacturing to amusement park queues,\u201d Davenport said. \u201cThe wide range of possibilities is what inspires me most about industrial engineering. This scholarship will enable me to explore what kind of industrial engineering career I\u2019m most passionate about. It has significantly reduced the stress that accompanies the senior year of college.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scholarships were officially conferred at this year\u2019s IISE Annual Conference and Expo, which was held in Montreal, Canada, from May 18-21, 2024.<\/p>\n
