Biography

William Smolter is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering with more than 20 years of experience in engineering leadership, systems management, and operational performance improvement across government, industry, and academia.

He currently serves as a Strategic Infrastructure Advisor at Y-12 National Security Complex where he previously served as the Utilities Director leading multidisciplinary teams responsible for safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of mission-critical utility systems.

He also held engineering and program management roles with the Tennessee Valley Authority supporting nuclear, fossil, hydroelectric, and combined-cycle generation facilities. Finally, he holds a leadership position in the United States Navy Reserve supporting various lines of effort.
