ABOUT THE PROGRAM<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Engineering is the natural extension of your childhood curiosity about how things work. The purpose of engineering study is to enhance your abilities to explore, experiment, design, and produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engineering curriculum trains you to use physical laws for creating objects and processes that offer solutions for industry, business, and individuals. It takes dedication and hard work to learn about these structures that govern the world we live in, and how to simplify and apply them creatively. It also involves taking appropriate risks, learning from failures, and developing a keen sense of the aesthetics of good design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Engineering Fundamentals faculty appreciate that working on an engineering project is a creative act (the words engineer<\/em> and ingenious<\/em> share the same Latin root). They also recognize that even as beginning engineering students, the accomplishment of real solutions to genuine problems is a necessary\u2014and fun\u2014part of your education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The First-Year Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Zeanah Engineering Complex serves as the new home for the Engineering Fundamentals program with three advanced learning spaces on the first through third floors designed with the student learning experience in mind. Engineering Fundamentals and Cook grand Challenge Honors Program<\/a> study rooms are located throughout the complex, offering rich spaces for students to work both independently or collaborate with other engineering students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Engage Living & Learning Community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All qualified first-year engineering students have the option to live in the Engage Living & Learning Community<\/a>, a residence hall floor exclusively for admitted engineering students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
