Changes Afoot for Pedestrians on the Hill

With work underway on the new engineering complex east of Neyland Stadium, pedestrians will find detours to guide them around the site.

Construction fencing has eliminated the former pedestrian path between Estabrook Hall and Pasqua Hall, the path under the pedestrian bridge leading to the Tickle Engineering Building, and all parking in Staff Lot 7 along Estabrook Road between the stadium and the pedestrian bridge. The same portion of Estabrook Road also has been closed to pedestrian traffic but remains open to one-way vehicular traffic (east bound only).

Here are several alternate routes that can be used during the construction. Signs will soon be posted to help with these detours.

Traveling northeast from the east end of the G10 garage:

  • Walk north between Neyland Stadium and the Neyland Drive Biology Annex, then follow Tee Martin Drive north around the stadium to Lower Drive. Remember, Estabrook Road between the stadium and the pedestrian bridge is closed to pedestrian traffic.

From the C15 lot to points west and north:

  • During business hours: Progress from C15 west across Second Creek to the Tickle Engineering Building’s first-floor entrance. Take the stairs or elevator to the fourth floor of Tickle to access the pedestrian bridge north. The building’s business hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Outside business hours: Progress from C15 west across Second Creek and head along the southern edges of the Tickle Engineering Building and the Neyland Biology Annex, then head north (before hitting the G10 garage) toward the stadium and Tee Martin Drive.

Only two paths are fully accessible: 1) from C15 across Second Creek to the Tickle Engineering Building, and 2) from the east end of Estabrook Road across the pedestrian bridge to the Tickle Engineering Building.

Staircases from Lower Drive to Estabrook Road have been closed to prohibit foot traffic in the construction area.
